MNU is pleased to announce its ranking by U.S. News & World Report as a 2019 Best Regional University Midwest, in a list published September 10. MNU ranked 88th (tie) out of 124 schools on the Midwest list. MNU joins Washburn, Rockhurst and Truman State on the list of Midwest universities. This is the second year in a row that MNU has been selected by the publication.

According to the publication’s website, U.S. News places each school into a category based on its mission (research university or liberal arts college, for example) and, in some cases, location. Data is then gathered for each school in up to 15 areas related to academic excellence. Colleges are ranked based on their overall scores for the top three-fourths of schools in each category.

The publication’s ranking methodology places a heavy emphasis on outcomes such as retention and graduation rates, followed by academic reputation. Specifically, this ranking pertains to the university’s traditional undergraduate programs.

“We are honored to be recognized again this year,” said Dr. David Spittal, MNU president. “It’s great news not only for MNU and its students and graduates but also for the Olathe and Kansas City communities. We’re proud to provide top quality education in our region.”
