We Prepare You

Middle-Level Math Education prepares you to teach diverse students highly complex math concepts specifically for grades 5, 6, 7 and 8.

Ideal for an education major who also loves math and would like to become more marketable, the Middle Level Math program lets you become licensed in math grades 5-8. At MNU, mathematics and education content is taught both separately and through courses that integrate mathematics content, pedagogy, and technology.

Program Overview

Field and clinical experiences in a variety of school districts enable you to gain a deeper understanding of the diversity of educational needs. And educational travel can expand your learning even more, allowing you to teach in diverse international settings.

Students in this major will be provided a new iPad to increase their learning experience.

MNU Scholarships

Your education is one of the most important investments you will ever make. At MNU nearly 100% of new students qualify for financial assistance that greatly reduces the actual cost of an MNU education.

Scholarship opportunities are also available to you—John Stephens Memorial Scholarships and Mathematics Scholarship as well as Education and TEACH grant scholarships. These are awarded to sophomores, juniors and seniors based on performance and financial need.

Application Process

Fall 2025 Start

Now accepting applications from seniors in high school or college transfers who are interested in starting at MNU in Fall of 2025.

Fall 2026 Start

Now accepting early action application from juniors in high school! Applicants with a cumulative high school GPA of 3.75 (weighted or unweighted) will be considered for provisional admission with priority consideration for our honors program and performing arts scholarships.

*Some exceptions made on case by case basis.

Our students have access to the best teacher mentors in the field. Through our Clinical Mentoring Team (CMT)—a teaching excellence team—we provide cooperating teachers who have both amazing classroom expertise and coaching abilities.

While you’re here, you can join the Educators Rising organization, for great networking opportunities as well as training and preparation for the job search. Based on your academic achievements, you can also participate in our chapters of the Gamma Chi and Pi Lambda Theta honor societies.

Teacher Certification
  • We are accredited by CAEP
  • There is a separate application and admission process
  • For more than 10 years 100% of MNU’s teacher candidates in mathematics education have passed the PRAXIS content exam and the PLT required for certification.

 

As a graduate, you will complete all Kansas requirements for teacher certification. Our faculty will also help you find out how to become certified in other states, and many are similar to Kansas requirements.
