We Prepare You

At MNU we offer a comprehensive approach to theatrical training that stresses technical practices, performances, theater management, and academic courses to develop you as an artistic member of the performing arts. You’ll contribute to all productions, either as actors or as members of the crew.

You’ll have the opportunity to work and learn in the state-of-the-art Bell Cultural Events Center with set construction and studio classes. MNU is uniquely situated just 20 minutes from Kansas City, a top area for professional and community theaters in the metro.

Program Overview

Our theatre students stage four major productions each year including:

  • A musical in Mabee Hall
  • A musical in Sunderland Black Box Theater.
  • Two plays staged in either venue.

Additional MNU Theatre opportunities include:

  • Improv Team
  • Student Directed One-Acts
  • 24-hour Play Festival
  • Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (a week-long festival with scholarship competitions, workshops, shows, and auditions for professional productions)

MNU Scholarships

Your education is one of the most important investments you will ever make. At MNU nearly 100% of new students qualify for financial assistance that greatly reduces the actual cost of an MNU education.

Theatre scholarships are available to exceptional students who follow the Audition Information, complete the Theatre Scholarship Application Form, and perform a successful audition.

Your degree is an investment in your future. We have a variety of different payment options available, so you can choose the option or combination of options, that best fits your situation. The total cost will be calculated based on your program and can be divided into multiple payments.

Application Process

Fall 2025 Start

Now accepting applications from seniors in high school or college transfers who are interested in starting at MNU in Fall of 2025.

Fall 2026 Start

Now accepting early action application from juniors in high school! Applicants with a cumulative high school GPA of 3.75 (weighted or unweighted) will be considered for provisional admission with priority consideration for our honors program and performing arts scholarships.
